Roland Casamina and House of Finance, Inc. Endowed Scholarship

History:  Roland C. Casamina was born in a small Village in the Philippines. He came to the United States in 1968 as a young teenager along with his parents, with no money, but full of hope for a better life. He attended Kalakaua Middle School, graduated from Farrington High School in 1972, and subsequently earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Shidler College of Business in 1976. Roland's first job was a busboy in Waikiki, working at night while attending high school. He eventually worked as a waiter full-time at night while attending college full-time during the day.

Immediately after graduation in 1976, Roland was hired as a Branch Manager at the former International Savings and Loan. At the age of 22, he was the youngest ever to become a branch manager. Roland quickly rose to Vice President, a job he held until 1995, when he started House of Finance, Inc.

House of Finance, Inc. specialized in residential loan funding. It was ranked by the Pacific Business News #15 for both 2010 and 2011 as the top residential loan funding institution in the entire State of Hawai'i, out-funding many of the mid-size banks in the State.

Roland has received numerous awards. He is very active in many civic and professional organizations in the State of Hawai'i. He is the founding president of the Filipino Community Center, one of his greatest achievements. For his efforts, a ballroom there was named in his honor.

Roland is married to the former Evelyn Castro. They have four children and two grandchildren.
