Mira Baciu-Simian Memorial Fellowship Fund
History: |
The Mira Baciu-Simian Fellowship was established by Stefan Baciu, former Professor of Spanish at UH Manoa, in memory of his wife, Mira. The couple fled from Romania after World War II to wander around the world, living in Brazil and Washington State to finally settle in Hawaii in 1964. Professor Mira Baciu, who taught French at UH Manoa, was a poet and specialist in modern French theater. She was a lively and generous teacher, beloved by her students.
