Hawai'i Fresh Milk Industry Legacy Scholarship Endowment

History:  This scholarship endowment was made possible by the joint efforts of the Hawai‘i dairy producers on O‘ahu and Big Island in recognition of the support given to the industry by the local community. The dairy industry in Hawai‘i has a long standing history of supporting the community it serves. Dairy farmers provided milk to soldiers and families in need during the war. They continued to support school programs in the 1980’s – 1990’s. In early 1990, members of the various dairy cooperatives (O‘ahu, 50th State Dairy Cooperative and Big Island Dairy Cooperative) formed the Hawai‘i Fresh Milk Industry (“HFMI”). The main purpose was to promote "Island Fresh" milk via education. This endowment by HFMI continues the educational efforts and vesting in the next generation of leaders in our community.
