Michael and Judy Pietsch Endowed Study Abroad Scholarship

History:  Michael A. Pietsch is President and CEO of Title Guaranty of Hawaii, Inc. He is on the Board of Trustees at Punahou School and also serves on the Children's Discovery Center board. Judy Pietsch began her career as an elementary school teacher, followed by 19 years as director of college counseling at Punahou School before retiring. She presently serves on the Board of Trustees at St. Andrew's Priory School for Girls and is scholarship chair on the Board of Trustees of the Duke Kahanamoku Foundation. Mike and Judy's philanthropic interests center on education.

The Pietschs are strong believers that travel outside the United States significantly broadens a person's education. A multi-cultural understanding and perspective is becoming essential to conducting business in a global economy.

Mike and Judy were influenced early in their careers by living and working in Seoul, Korea followed by extensive travel on a very limited budget as they made their way back to the U.S. They were in their early 20s and getting to know people in many countries and experiencing their diverse cultures contributed to shaping their world-view. Their children have benefited from world travel as well. The Pietschs wish to provide Shidler College of Business graduate students in financial need the opportunity to participate in educational travel outside the United States.
